Genger builds and Glunz photographs. Genger creates sculptures and costumes in which she herself appears, and Glunz orchestrates the images. The photographs are imaginary visions, like paintings set free. Yet because Genger and her work are physically present in them, they remain reality within the fantasy. This shift between fantasy and reality opens a conversation about what is and what could be.
Each project is self-contained, yet recurring threads connect them: myth, carnival and expressions of female sexuality, drawn from archaic visual traditions, pop culture, fashion and the rhythms of classical poetry. Exploring how identities shift between survival, submission and success, Genger & Glunz build a visual tapestry that delights, ultimately, in the mortification of self.
